Our Delicious and Lovely Cake

Website: Starry Nights Catering
Contact: Matt Jones
Chef: Dan

The Griffin Wedding Rating: 5 Stars! Would shout their name from the roof-tops!

Our experience with Starry Nights Catering couldn’t be better. We began by scheduling a tasting (see the blog here). Brett and I got to sample about 8-10 cake flavors. The funny part, was on the way there, we were both commenting how we really don’t like wedding cake, and it would be amazing if we were wild about anything. You can guess where I am going… there were few of those flavors that at least one of us thought was delicious!
Matt was more then happy to quote 3 flavors— one on each tier. Months later, when we started thinking how crazy that was… really we would be lucky to enjoy one piece of cake that night, he completely understood. Again, he happily did another estimate. Not once did anyone at Starry Nights Catering try to talk us into something, or be pushy.

When we were scheduled to meet the chef about our cake design, we actually got stood up. Matt called and apologized all over the place. He not only called within an hour of our call, but he called Both Brett and I the next morning for an additional apology and said, “I guarantee this is not how Starry Nights Catering does business!” It was hard to be upset with them after all, mistakes happen.

We met with Dan later that week, and he also offered an apology and we proceeded with the cake ideas. He took notes, drew sketches, and our cake turned out EXACTLY like we talked about. Truly, couldn’t have been better.

They actual cake flavor was “Elegant Lemon Cake” This included ceamy handmade lemon mousse filling, layers of vanilla chiffon cake, sweet raspberry jam, and topped with a tangy lemon curd. Did I mention it was De-lish? The top layer was left over from the wedding. We cut that in half and sent it over to Renee and Scott’s for their Anniversary (7.9.07) and then took the other half and had dessert while in Port Townsend.

The other thing that’s really great…they give you a certificate to get a personal sized cake on your 1 year anniversary. No cake freezing here—only fresh!
