Honeymoon: Saturday St Thomas/ St John

Today led us on quite the adventure. Up until now, we had decided that $75 would be plenty of cash on the islands (since most took debit card). Well, this is where we went wrong today.

We set off on an adventure to St. John (which Whitney told us was well worth exploring on our own). On St. John, there is a lovely area called Trunk Bay. To get to it, you have to leave the ship, take a taxi, then a ferry, then yet another taxi, and then there is a fee to get in. You see where this is going right? Yes, that’s it, we ran out of money to get back because everything was cash!

We got there about 9 am, and Brett is telling me to relax, “we’ll figure out a way”. After sitting on the beach, I realized that there is a tour going to Trunk bay from the cruise ship. So, we stayed out of the water until the tour arrived. We patiently watched people go by, until the very last two people stepped on to the beach! Boy, were we excited to see them! They were a couple that we had met at the honeymooners cocktail hour! We sheepishly asked them to borrow $20- to get back to the ship. Luckily, they were sweet enough to help us out!

This allowed us to have a really fantastic day snorkeling. It was the most beautiful location, and you got to swim out to towards the island, and then just snorkle around to see all kinds of fish and coral.

Our last $3 dollars was borrowed from a couple on the taxi. Oddly enough, there were the only two people we met from Seattle. Thank goodness for kind Seattle-ites! 🙂

When returning to St. Thomas, we opted to purchase 10 bottles of liquor and a bunch of party stuff for our Carribean themed New Years Bash. Boy was it a long trek back to our ship!!

OH, I had so fun, that my back got sunburned! Which, added to the rash I already had from the funky sunscreen. Boy, was I so not looking forward to our spa date! We went anyhow, but honestly, the spa was sub par (even Brett thought so w/o a sun burn!) I highly recommend saving your money for a GOOD reputable spa at home vs wasting it on the cruise ship spa!

Our cruise had come to an end, and now we are sad to be land lovers once more. We’re already dreaming of our Mediterranean cruise! 🙂
